Castle Irwell Student Village is home for over 1600 students from
The University of Salford. It is
located on one of the meanders of the river Irwell. Students here pay a weekly fee of 41 pounds and share a house
with 10 other students of the same sex.
Our security guards live in this little hut. Only a few of them can speak English. All they do is walk around the premisses with their yellow coats closing doors that are left open. They also open our doors with their skeleton key if we find ourselves locked out.
This is the Pavillion, or the Pav. It’s open seven nights a week and Friday nights are 2 for 1 on most of their drinks. You pay 4 pounds to get in and you get to see lovely sights such as the fat long-haired chick with the shortest skirt and the hugest thighs I have ever seen! .....or, you can sit on the pool tables and drink all night.
This is the road that we have to walk down every day. It’s always full of pieces of glass and we
have to go round the barrier. When it
rains we get loads of puddles....and I’m the one that always steps in
them. If you take the pathway on your
right you reach the Pav, the cash machine and...... “The Dark Side”....
This picture was taken in
September, I can tell because of the nice weather we had and because I haven’t
seen leaves on the trees since then.
This is the field where some residents play football. You always see people playing and it seems
as though they never go to uni. Also,
to play on the field you have to dress up as a pro, or else you don’t
look cool. This field also acts as a barrier between the Dark side and
the Light Side.... especially when it’s wet and muddy.
Finally, our house is the
last one on the left row of houses. I
honestly think that the phone booths on the right don’t make any money.
